Michel Planson - Photograph in Paris
Photographer from an early age, I gradually refined my eye throughout a career at SNCF, where I worked at international ticket counters. This experience enriched my understanding of different cultures and allowed me to perfect several languages. It also naturally paved the way for my work as a portrait photographer, catering to an international clientele.
A passionate traveler, I’ve captured unique moments across Europe with my Nikon FM, particularly during the Venice Carnival — the subject of my very first exhibition. My involvement in the photography community, notably as president of the railway workers’ photo club at Gare de Lyon, gave me the opportunity to exchange with fellow enthusiasts and sharpen my technique, especially in light and composition.
Black and white quickly became an obvious artistic choice, inspired by the dramatic aesthetics of steam locomotives and the railway workers portrayed alongside them, often in collaboration with heritage associations. This passion for monochrome photography continues to shape my visual identity.
I began as an analog photographer, developing my own prints, and have since transitioned to digital photography, using software such as Photoshop and Lightroom to enrich my creations. Despite technological evolution, I remain committed to authenticity and the quality of fine art prints.
I regularly take part in group exhibitions, where I have the chance to meet and share with other artists. Music — especially jazz — plays an important role in my life, influencing my artistic vision and nurturing my creative approach.
I’m proud to share that in 2023, I was admitted to the Arts-Sciences-Lettres academic and educational society, receiving their Gold Medal distinction. In 2024, I was awarded Best Photographer at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in Boulogne-Billancourt.
These honors mean a great deal to me and inspire me to continue growing and giving the very best of myself.
